Training Course: Runway, Taxiway, Apron Planning and Design

Delivery:        Classroom and on-site / virtual class
Duration:       5 days on site or 15 hours virtual class

The objective of the course is to enable participants to understand the ICAO Annex 14, Volume 1 Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) or the national implementation thereof – related to Runways, Taxiways, Aprons and adjacent areas. Based on best practices, the participants will become knowledgeable about the configuration, dimensioning and design of these fundamental infrastructural elements and will learn how to fulfil planning and design requirements.

Learning Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the ICAO Annex 14, Volume 1 SARPs for lighting, signs and markings on an aerodrome.
  • Identify the non-compliance on the airside
  • Learn how to manage non-compliance situations.
  • How to implement GRF requirements
  • Manage non-compliance through safety assessment with reference to Doc 9981: PANS-Aerodromes
